An interest in high-altitude ballooning kick-started by interest in ham radio, with its technical, electronic and science themes. Having experienced short-wave listening in my teenage years, with QSL card collecting and enjoying the benefits of radio communications in sharing ideas, I joined the Sutton and Cheam Radio Society to gain my Foundation Amateur Radio Licence in 2013, operating at M6NJX. Since 2015, I have operated with my Full License as M0NJX.

My main interest is in HF bands, operating with limited equipment and under 10W of power (QRP), home-brewing antennas and developing my hands-on skills with a soldering iron in practical experiments with radio frequency circuits.

With my lovely Spanish wife and two very active children, I share time in the UK and Spain (EA/-prefix), as well as travel extensively in Europe with my day job in the Financial Technology industry.

In my spare time, I enjoy traditional photography and darkroom printing, loud American motorcycling and playing around with guitars.
