On 2nd January 2013, the Australian Scouts will commence their national Jamboree which runs for ten days. As part of the activities, Maryborough Electronics and Radio Group, Inc. are helping run the Special Event Station, VI4AJS.

“With some expected 11,000 Scouts plus leaders living under canvass for the event, it is going to be the largest happening in which MERG members have engaged”
— Geoff Emery, Club President.

Icom Australia has donated the main HF rig and some mementoes and the Wireless Institute of Australia is supplying free access to the QSL Bureau.

Operations will utilise both the national and international scouting call frequencies from 40m through to 70cms. There will also be Echo/IRLP and 2m and 70cms repeaters available to Jamboree participants.
