United Nations Radio - World Radio Day Stamps

Postage stamps are being issued to celebrate World Radio Day which takes place 13 February 2013.

World Radio Day is observed on 13 February 2013, which marks the day when the United Nations Radio was launched in 1946. Since its establishment, UN Radio has used its multilingual programmes carried by media outlets around the globe to tell the story of the international community’s efforts to meet the challenges of building a better world.

The United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) will issue a series of stamps depicting scenes from the history of the United Nations Radio.

International Museums Weekend special event 2013

Many radio clubs took part in the International Museums Weekend special event in 2012.

In 2013, this event will take place on the double weekends of 15 & 16 and 22 & 23 June. Radio amateurs are encouraged to participate in this event by setting up stations in their local museums.

10th Antarctic Activity Week

The 10th Antarctic Activity Week (AAW) is to take place between 18-24 February 2013.

The event, promoted by the Worldwide Antarctic Program (WAP), whose goal is to improve the worldwide attention of the Antarctic Continent and related matters, including researchers and personnel spending time away from family.

The AAW is a unique worldwide event where Hams from all around the world sign up and help promote Antarctica. The event is open to all radio amateurs, especially those with a special callsign.

All SES with a WAP reference number will qualify for WAP ASEA (Antarctic Special Events Award).
