About Us
Martin Butler (M1MRB & W9ICQ)
Hi my name is Martin Butler. I am in my late-fifties, a family man with a lovely wife, three children (Colin is the eldest) and four grandchildren.
I started my work career working for Philips making colour TV’s and spent 10 years as a radio and Television engineer. During this time I passed my City & Guilds exams and had my first look at Amateur Radio, however I remained a Short Wave Listener.
Twenty year in the computer industry and in 1999 I was working with another contractor who was into Amateur Radio. We discussed the hobby and I ended up going to Brighton College to do my RAE. I passed my RAE in December 2000 and got the call sign M1MRB. I have been an active member of Sutton and Cheam Radio Society since 1999 and am now a committee member.
A group of us at the club wanted to start a training group in 2005 and I have now become the lead instructor.
I am a member if the Radio Society of Great Britain and the GQRP Club. My latest venture is working with Colin on ICQPODCAST which I am enjoying greatly.

Colin Butler (M6BOY)
Hi my name is Colin Butler and I am in my mid-thirties, a family man living in Ireland with my lovely wife Sandra and my children, Conor and Holly.
My working career has mainly been spent in the service industry working in publishing, manufacturing and IT.
I became interested in Podcast in 2008. My father Martin, (M1MRB) agreed to participate in an amateur radio Podcast, the ICQ Podcast. My radio interest grew as we developed the ICQ Podcast project, and I committed to undertake the UK amateur radio foundation license examination.
In early March 2009, I successfully completed by UK amateur radio foundation license exam and was awarded the call sign M6BOY.
My other interests include sports (football, cricket, hurling, NFL and Formula One), technology and reading.
