EURAO Party - Winter 2014 Promoting HF Digital Voice

The European Radio Amateurs' Organization have announced a new party on the air, this time with the motto: 'experiencing with digital voice'.

Remember this is not a contest, it is just a radio meeting with a few simple 'rules', better to call them recommendations.

Purpose is to experience new modes (in this case Digital Voice), have fun and meet hams all over the world. Of course SWLs are welcome to participate.

Bands & modes: These are the recommended frequencies for DV: 1.977, 3.732, 3.817, 5.403,5, 7.177, 7.190, 14.236, 14.240, 18.119, 21.313, 24.933 and 28.720 MHz.

EuCW launches Snakes and Ladders

The European CW group, EuCW have launched a new on-air Snakes and Ladders, due to start on 1 April 2014.

For CW operators the game runs through from this April until the 31st of March 2015 on all HF bands. It is designed to promote activity on all bands and to encourage friendly contacts. It's not a contest; it's a game.

The Snakes and Ladders board is made up from a Maidenhead locator map of Europe and the position of each station after QSOs can go up thanks to a ladder or down when a snake bites.

Ham Radio Operators prepare to host ham radio 'Olympics'

The World Championship of amateur radio will take place in Massachusetts next July 2014, and local ham-radio operators are helping to prepare for it by testing sites around the region this past weekend

The competition will feature 59 two-person teams from across the world, each stationed at a different site in the area.
