First RaDAR Challenge of 2020

The first RaDAR Challenge of 2020 takes place in South Africa from 00:00 UTC to 23:59 UTC on Saturday 4th April 2020.

RaDAR operators define their own operating time schedule for the maximum, single period, four-hour session. CW, SSB, FM or any legal amateur radio digital mode can be used on all amateur bands including cross band contacts via amateur radio satellites.

The exchange is your call sign, your name, a RS or RST report and your grid locator. Log sheets must be submitted by 11th April 2020 by e-mail to edleighton@gmail.com.

RSGB HF and VHF Contest Rules Changes

As a result of the UK government’s recent advice on social distancing, it is with regret that the HF Contest Committee (HFCC) and the VHF Contest Committee (VHFCC) have decided that, with immediate effect and until the end of June 2020, the RSGB will no longer accept multi-operator contest entries for any RSGB Contest.

Single operator entries from shared stations will also not be accepted unless the station is being shared by family members living at the same postal address. The HFCC has taken the decision that the RSGB HF CW NFD Contest (June) is cancelled for this year.

The RSGB has decided not to ban portable operation by single operators because of the potential mental health benefits associated with engaging in hobbies etc. as well as the lack of person-to-person contact in normal single operator contesting. However, they encourage everyone to follow the government guidelines regarding social distancing and unnecessary travel.

The RSGB will review these rule changes regularly in line with the most recent government advice to determine if we need to extend or modify the restrictions. In early June we will decide if the VHF NFD, the IOTA Contest and SSB NFD can go ahead as planned.

SARL VHF/UHF Analogue Contest

The second leg of the SARL VHF/UHF Analogue Contest will be on the air from 10:00 UTC on Saturday 9 November to 10:00 UTC on Sunday 10 November 2019 with SSB, FM and CW contacts on 6, 4 and 2 m, 70 and 23 cm and higher.

All QSOs must be two-way point to point and the exchange is an RS or RST report and your location - either a six-digit Maidenhead locator or latitude and longitude.

Page 48 of the 2019 Blue Book contains all the information about the contest - multipliers and scoring, etc.

Your log sheet must be sent to contest@sarl.org.za by Monday 2 December 2019.
