The Alternative Amateur Radio Club #AltARC is a new national club aimed at the Young, Hackspacers, Geeks, Nerds and with a technical interest. 

The aim of the Alternative Amateur Radio Club is to put young people at the heart of the club.

Mitchell, 2E0EMO from Essex UK,  "As an amateur I grew tired of being a young person wanting to play with new technologies but keep being shut down."

Mitchell would like to hear people’s views and from those who would like to get involved and hopefully form a team.

Indian Women Hams Inspired to Learn

Indian women are following trendsetter Bharathi Prasad VU2RBI in taking up the amateur / ham radio hobby.

Prasad has been a successful operator since becoming licensed in 1980, and has won many awards.

Prasad was one of only 50 female operators when she achieved her callsign using her science education to supplement the electronics teaching of amateur radio.

At the time of licensing, Bharathi was unable to speak english, and learnt in her native tongue - Telegu.

2016 AMSAT Board of Directors Election Results

Following the recent elections for the 2016 Board of Directors of AMSAT, Tom Clark, K3IO; Mark Hammond, N8MH; and Bruce Paige, KK5DO; will serve on the board for two years.

The First Alternate is Paul Stoetzer, N8HM and the Second Alternate is Clayton Coleman, W5PFG. Both will serve for a term of one year.

The results of the voting with 697 ballots cast are as follows:
