New SARL Hamnet Deputy National Director

At the SARL Council meeting held on 9 October, the appointment of Grant Southey, ZS1GS as the new SARL Hamnet Deputy National Director was approved. Grant will also continue as Regional Director for SARL Hamnet Western Cape as well.

Federación de Radioaficionados de Cuba (FRC) Joins Twitter

The Federación de Radioaficionados de Cuba (FRC) has activated an official Twitter account.

FRC’s presence in this social network will contribute to increased information about activities carried out by its members throughout the country; it will be linked to most of the current publications in FRCUBA and in others especially aimed at Twitter.

John Crabbe, G3WFM, SK

John Crabbe, G3WFM, passed away in the early hours of Thursday 18th October 2018 at the age of 87, after having been unwell for some time.

For many years John volunteered for the RSGB at Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, UK, working as an archivist/historian, RSGB National Amateur Radio Museum curator, and manager of the RSGB Shack.

A very active amateur in his own right too, right to the end, he had diverse interests ranging from HF DX up to satellites, microwaves and amateur television.

In 2008 John was awarded the prestigious Founders’ Trophy for his many years’ distinguished service to the RSGB.
