Russian Digital Radio Club - 5th Anniversary

The Russian Digital Radio Club, founded 21st March 2014, are inviting amateurs across the world to join them for their 5th Anniversary celebrations.

From 03:00 UTC Saturday 23rd March 2019 to 15:00 UTC Sunday 24th March 2019 on 160, 80, 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12, 10 meters bands in OLIVIA and T10 modes.

Dupe QSO (SWL) can be conducted by different digital modes as on one band as well as on other bands.

Certificates in electronic form will be reawarded with all participants under condition of carrying out not less than 10 QSO (SWL) along with prizes including two pendants with club symbolics.

All logs must be sent no later than 5 days after activity days.

GQRP Club Founder the Rev. George Dobbs, G3RJV, SK

The founder of the GQRP Club and Amateur Radio author the Rev. George Dobbs, G3RJV, of Littleborough, England, died on 11 March 2019, aged 75.

Dobbs was reported to have been in ill health for some time and had been living in a care facility, where his condition deteriorated quite rapidly over the past few days. He was the honorary secretary of the GQRP Club (G5LOW), which he founded in 1974 to cater to those interested in low-power Amateur Radio communication.

Dobbs served as the editor for the club’s quarterly, SPRAT. Dobbs was the author of QRP Basics, The International QRP Collection (co-authored with Steve Telenius-Lowe, 9M6DXX), and Making a Transistor Radio. He was a frequent Hamvention® attendee, and in 2015, he received the Hamvention “Technical Excellence Award.”

Jim Stevenson, an RSGB Regional Manager (Region 13) has passed away on 4th March 2019.

“It is with great sadness that Jim Stevenson (G0EJQ) has passed away.

The news came as a shock to all those local amateurs who knew him and all of us in Region 13 will greatly miss his significant contribution to our hobby.”
