Dave Sumner, K1ZZ, may not be the ARRL CEO anymore, but he’s still working for amateur radio. He’s the secretary of the International Amateur Union (IARU) and will be a big part of ham radio’s presence at the upcoming World Radio Conference 2019. The confence starts on October 28 and runs through November 22.

/The ARRL has just announced that they have set up three new mailing lists (they’re using groups.io) to allow all radio amateurs—not just ARRL members—to “discuss issues and topics in two-way conversation with ARRL leadership.” These new mailing lists are “aimed at enhancing communication among ARRL leadership, staff, members, and prospective members, in a manner that enables timely updates and collegial discussion.”

/The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Office of Weights and Measures and NOAA’s National Geodetic Survey (NGS) have co-issued a Federal Register notice (FRN) to retire the U.S. Survey Foot after 2022. We are soliciting public comment to ensure that this change is made in an orderly fashion with minimal disruption.
