160m Band Wireless Power Transfer

Texzon Technologies has been granted an FCC experimental license, callsign WJ2XGB, to test Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) from 1710 kHz to 1900 kHz in the 160-metre band

Texzon Technologies apparently aim to conduct testing in the spectrum range from 1710 kHz to 1900 kHz with an input power of less than 5 kW and EIRP limited to 100 watts or less. The FCC license permits an ERP of 1000 watts.

The submission to the FCC listed Michael Taylor KG5IUC as being involved in the project - https://apps.fcc.gov/els/GetAtt.html?id=202374&x=.

Sony to Cease Shortwave Radios Production

SONY Japan declared in January that they ended the production of ICF-SW35 shortwave receiver. They also declared in February that they end the sales of another shortwave receiver ICF-7600GR at their online store.

ICF-SW35 has been on sale since 2000, ICF-7600GR since 2001. This means SONY will completely withdraw from the shortwave receiver market.

Remaining SONY shortwave receivers are ICF-EX5MK2 and ICF-M780N, both are exclusively for the reception of Radio Nikkei, tunable to only 6 fixed shortwave frequencies of Radio Nikkei, Japan. (Takahito Akabayashi, Tokyo, Japan via WOR ml)
