Amateur Radio Kids Day 2016

Kids Day 2016, taking place on Sunday 3rd January 2016, is a fantastic way to introduce young people to the magic of Amateur Radio by getting them on the air!

One Amateur / Ham Radio Club taking part in Kids Day is New Providence Amateur Radio Club who will set up two operating ham radio stations in the DeCorso Community Center, 15 East Fourth St., New Providence, on Sunday, 3rd January 2016. Kids of all ages from Berkeley Heights, New Providence and surrounding communities are invited to participate, and make direct radio contacts with other kids.

In the past, the club have made many radio contacts to the eastern United States, as far west as Oklahoma, Colorado and California, and to foreign countries such as Ireland and Australia. This year they expect to make many contacts with stations around the world.

Jamaica Amateur Radio 75th Anniversary

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Jamaica Amateur Radio Association, a special prefix was issued to recognize this historic milestone in amateur radio in Jamaica.

QSO's will only be valid for the period from December 1, 2015 to Dec 31, 2015 for all permitted amateur bands (160m, 80m, 40m, 30m, 20m, 17m, 15m, 12m, 10m, 6m, 2m, 70cm) any mode (Mixed, CW, Phone, Digital) with the special prefix 6Y75

Special Event Amateur Radio Call Sign GB5OMU

The Mid Ulster Amateur Radio Club will be hosting a special event call sign for the month of December namely GB5OMU using the letter O to form a callsign that reads 50 Mid Ulster.

The special amateur radio callsign is to celebrate 50 years of the Mid Ulster Amateur Radio Club, who are planning on completing another 50 and more.
