4X0BG - Israel Special Event/Contest

Operators Arthur/4X4DZ, Alex/4Z4AK, Hilik/4X6YA and Jan/4X1VF will be active with the special callsign 4X0BG between 1000 UTC, 20th April and 2200 UTC 21st April 2018.

Activity is during Israel's 70th anniversary celebration from "Ben Gurion's Hut" (Holyland Square E27BS, WFF 4XFF-058) in the desert. The group will also participate in the Holy Land Contest.

They state that they will send a printed QSL for each QSO with 4X0BG via the Bureau.

National Seashore Events Commemorating Titanic and Marconi

The Cape Cod National Seashore will host two events commemorating wireless communication and the role it played to rescue survivors from the sinking of the Titanic.

Wireless messages sent from the Marconi station in Wellfleet on 14th April 1912 to the Titanic were also received by the ship Carpathia. The Carpathia rescued 740 people after its operator relayed those messages to the Titanic, which responded that it was sinking.

On Saturday 14th April, a Titanic Memorial Event will honor the 1,500 people lost. The Titanic/Marconi Memorial Association of Cape Cod, WIMGY, will host a global wireless radio event that honors those lost and to tell stories of ship-to-shore wireless communication. The event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Nauset Coast Guard Station at Coast Guard Beach in Eastham.

International Marconi Day is the following week on 21st April and an event will honor Guglielmo Marconi for his contributions to wireless technology.

VB18FIFA: World Cup 2018 Football Amateur Radio Marathon

The special callsign VB18FIFA will be on the air from 1st June to 15th July 2018 for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Members of the Maritime Contest Club (MCC) will represent Canada and Radio Amateurs of Canada at the request of the Russian Amateur Radio Union (SRR), the national organization of Radio Amateurs in Russia. 

The SRR has partnered with Amateur organizations in 60 countries to organize special event stations.
