NHS Amateur Radio Callsign Launches

GB1NHS is the new National Health Service amateur radio station, launching on Tuesday 8th May 2018 at the RSGB’s National Radio Centre at Bletchley Park.

National Radio Centre Coordinator Martyn Baker, G0GMB, will make the initial transmission using the call sign at 10.45am and the event will run to 2pm.

The launch is part of the NHS #EndPJparalysis campaign, a 70-day mission to get patients up, dressed and moving while in hospital.

The long-term aim of the station is to promote, through the medium of amateur radio, NHS initiatives that lead to patients receiving excellent care, faster recovery and living longer, healthier lives.

AOxEU: Europe Day "on the air" 2018

This year, 9 May is on Wednesday, so Europe Day will be active from Friday 4th May 2018 for the whole weekend, with the special callsigns: AO1EU, AO2EU, AO3EU, AO4EU, AO5EU, AO6EU, AO7EU, AO8EU and AO9EU, to commemorate the creation of the EU in 1950.

As usual, special QSL and Award will be available. Contact also valid for the Radio Clubs of the World Award, EANET.

YOTA Sub Regional Camp Italy 2018

YOTA Italia as part of ARI, and local clubs based in Rome Region, are organising a YOTA Sub Regional Camp for up to 40 young people

The event is taking place 21-24 June 2018 in Montecassino, about 100 km south of Rome. The organisers invite all youngsters in IARU Region 1 and mainly those in Mediterranean countries.

A detailed program will be published close to the event and it will include several radio activities, a day to share radio knowledge with Scouts, ARDF and a visit to the Montecassino Abbey. An amateur radio station will be on air from the camp operated by all the youngsters with a special callsign for the event.
