OR Prefix Celebrates Belgium Princess Birthday

To celebrate the birthday of Her Royal Highness Princess Elisabeth of Belgium radio amateurs may use the prefix OR instead of ON from 25th October 2019 to 25th December 2019.

The 25th October 2019 is the birthday of Her Royal Highness Princess Elisabeth of Belgium. The Belgians then celebrate the 18th birthday of the future First Queen, Queen of the Belgians.

In that context, the Union Royale Belge des Amateurs-émetteurs, furthermore the "UBA", contacted BIPT to allow radio amateurs to use a special prefix for that occasion.

The BIPT Council allows every holder of a Belgian call sign, radio amateurs and radio clubs, to use the prefix “OR” instead of the standard prefix “ON”, and that during the period from 25 October 2019 to 25 December 2019.

This decision does not apply to the use of a short call sign or an uncrewed station [repeater/beacon].

GB1SOE at Bletchley Park

The weekend of 28 and 29 September 2019 is the 1940s weekend at Bletchley Park.

The RSGB National Radio Centre will be open all weekend to Bletchley Park visitors and, supporting the 1940s weekend, they will host the special event station GB1SOE.

West Malaysian Special Event

Members of the Kelab Radio Amateur Jalan Klang Lama, the 9MDXC and MARTS will be activating the special event callsign 9M16KING from Kuala Lumpur between now and September 30th.

Activity is to celebrate the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong (16th constitutional monarch and head of state of Malaysia).

Activity will be on 80-10 meters using CW, SSB and various digital modes.
