North Pole Contest Group in Alaska

A team of operators from the (KL7RA) will activate W1AW/KL7 from Alaska between July 9-13th.

Wigi, KL0R, Station Manager of the North Pole Contest Group, reports that are currently planning to have four station locations in Alaska, including KL7RA in Kenai, KL2R in Fairbanks/Two Rivers, KL7AA in Anchorage, and one more station, most likely in Homer.

Activity will be on various HF bands (as many bands and modes as possible, plus EME), including activity in

the IARU HF Championship (July 10-11th) as HQ Station.

To celebrate the first one-way amateur radio QSO across the Atlantic that took place on 12 December 1921, the ARRL have joined with a group of UK operators who plan to recreate the event in December this year.

To celebrate the centenary of Paul Godley, 2ZE’s success, in collaboration with North Ayrshire Council, special event stations GB2ZE and GB1002ZE respectively will be operating from 1 to 28 December 2021.

30 Years of Independence Award

The Slovenian Amateur Radio Union will celebrate the country's 30 years of Independence by issuing a special award. It will be eligible to all amateur radio enthusiasts all over the World.

For this event only, starting 26th June 2021, 00:00 UTC and until 31st December 2021, 23:59 UTC, the Slovenian amateur radio stations can use special call signs. Those will add the number '30' into the suffix. For example: S50ZZ will be S5030ZZ, S51A will be S5130A, S57XXX will be S5730XXX etc.

In order to obtain the award a foreign amateur radio station must have at least 30 contacts with an S5 stations (regular and special call signs apply), out of which 10 or more with special prefixes ('30'). The use of any band/mode counts for the award.
