The RaDAR Challenge

The RaDAR Challenge is a unique event aimed at promoting the use of Rapidly Deployable Amateur Radio stations.

The second leg runs from 00:00 UTC to 23:59 UTC on Saturday 10 July 2021, but RaDAR operators will decide on their maximum, single period, four-hour activity. Activity is on all bands and modes except QSOs via terrestrial FM repeaters.

The RaDAR Challenge is not considered to be a contest but an individual challenge.

The exchange is your call sign, your name, a RS, RST or RSQ report and your 8- or 10-character grid locator. Log sheets must be submitted by 23:59 CAT on Thursday 15 July 2021 by e-mail to edleighton@gmail.com.

North Pole Contest Group in Alaska

A team of operators from the (KL7RA) will activate W1AW/KL7 from Alaska between July 9-13th.

Wigi, KL0R, Station Manager of the North Pole Contest Group, reports that are currently planning to have four station locations in Alaska, including KL7RA in Kenai, KL2R in Fairbanks/Two Rivers, KL7AA in Anchorage, and one more station, most likely in Homer.

Activity will be on various HF bands (as many bands and modes as possible, plus EME), including activity in

the IARU HF Championship (July 10-11th) as HQ Station.

Volunteers Sought for 100th Anniversary Station

To celebrate the first one-way amateur radio QSO across the Atlantic that took place on 12 December 1921, the ARRL have joined with a group of UK operators who plan to recreate the event in December this year.

To celebrate the centenary of Paul Godley, 2ZE’s success, in collaboration with North Ayrshire Council, special event stations GB2ZE and GB1002ZE respectively will be operating from 1 to 28 December 2021.
