Radio Hams to Commemorate Amelia Earhart's Transatlantic Flight

Radio amateurs in Londonderry and Kansas will be on the air to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the transatlantic crossing by pioneering aviator Amelia Earhart

GB0AEL will be active between 13th May and 30th May 2022. The North West Group amateur radio club station MN0NWG will host the activation on most dates throughout the event and they will also be active from the field in which Amelia touched down on her epic flight on the weekend of 21st May 2022 - https://www.qrz.com/db/GB0AEL

KC0VYS will be on-the-air from the Amelia Earhart Memorial Airport starting at 1500 CDT (2100 GMT) on May 20th and ending at 1000 CDT (1500 GMT) on the 21st - https://www.qrz.com/db/KC0VYS

RSGB Announces Further Details of Jubilee GB70 SES

As part of the forthcoming Jubilee celebrations, the RSGB has announced further details of its GB70 special event station activities. The seven SES call signs will be active across the Jubilee weekend, from 2-5 June 2022, on multiple bands and modes.

After that weekend, these special call signs will be available for activation by other RSGB affiliated clubs or individual RSGB Members until 28 June 2022. Each call sign has a volunteer coordinator responsible for allocating operating slots in a published schedule. They will also collect the log files from those who have been activating the calls.

Caister Marconi Radio Station Contacts more than 160 Amateurs in 25 countries

Radio hams at Caister Lifeboat in Norfolk managed to contact 162 other radio amateurs in 25 different countries on Saturday 23rd April 2022 when they took part in the annual International Marconi Day (IMD) event to mark the inventor's birthday.

Using the call GB0CMS and a mixture of Morse code, telephony (speech) and data (FT8), contacts were made with other radio amateurs across the UK, Europe, the USA, Canada and Australia.

Notable contacts were made with other IMD stations in Newhaven, East Sussex and Chelmsford – the home of Marconi’s original factory.
