Encourage Youngsters on the Air

Youngsters on the Air Month begins in ten days. Call sign GB24YOTA will be active for the duration of the month, hosted by a range of groups, clubs and individuals. Marlborough Scout Group will be the first team of youngsters to operate the call sign.

They will be on the air before midday on Sunday 1 December 2024, and then again after 6 pm on the same day. Operating the special call sign between 12 pm and 6 pm will be the Cambridge University Wireless Society.

Remember to listen out and have a QSO with a young radio amateur on the air. If you’d like to get involved, you’ve still got time. 25th Annual SKYWARN Recognition Day

SKYWARN Recognition Day is 7th December 2024. The annual event is celebrating its 25th anniversary. SRD was established in 1999 by the National Weather Service and ARRL® to commemorate the contributions of SKYWARN volunteers. Using amateur radio and other means of communication, SKYWARN spotters provide real time ground truth to NWS offices. The ham-volunteers can also provide vital communications between NWS and local emergency management officials when other means go down.

Special Event Station - AU2JCB

AU2JCB is a special event call-sign to commemorate the birth date (30 November) & to pay homage &to tell about the great INDIAN scientist Acharya JAGADISH CHANDRA BOSE who is recognized as the "Father of Wireless Communication" by the scientific community of our world & IEEE.

I am, VU2DSI is operating with this call sign for the last 17 years since 2005& operate AU2JCB from 15 November 2024 to 16 December 2024.
