Pat Hawker MBE G3VA Silent Key
/Pat Hawker, MBE G3VA, who for 50 years wrote the Technical Topics column in RadCom, passed away on 21 February 2013, aged 90.
Pat was first licensed with an 'artificial aerial' licence 2BUH in 1936 and a transmitting licence G3VA in 1938.
He
was involved in many aspects of radio, from WW2 with UK military
intelligence organisations through to time working for the RSGB, the IBA
and as the editor of Electronics Weekly and the Royal Television
Society Journal.
