Amateur Radio Club to hold emergency exercise
/The NPARC Amateur Radio Club of the Watchung Hills Area will set up a group of operating amateur radio stations on the grounds of Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights to participate in the Annual Emergency Preparedness test known as “Field Day” on Sunday 23 June 2013, at 2 p.m.
The event is designed to test operators' skills in setting up and operating radio communication equipment in situations where electrical power is limited or unavailable. The idea is to simulate the conditions that can occur during a hurricane, tornado or other emergency, including man-made disasters.
The stations will be on the air continuously for 24 hours from 22 June 2013 at noon until 23 June 2013 at 2 p.m. and will contact other Amateur Radio stations participating in this test, located in all parts of North and South America.
