RSGB Youth Team Recruiting

The Youth Team exists to encourage young people into the hobby, and consists of young people and adults up to the age of 26 who understand the needs of that age range

The team has a Youth Champion and there are currently 10 members, based far and wide across the UK: from Peter in Swansea and Nathan in Northern Ireland; to Hamish in Orkney and Rebecca in Ormskirk.

They have skills ranging from electronic engineering to teaching and, of course, there are some who are still at school.

The Youth Team is not a deciding committee, but the members support the team’s activities and try to work for the good of any young person who is interested in radio.

Skills are gained by attending events with young people from other countries in the summer—and winter Youngsters on the Air (YOTA) camps where Train the Trainer events are run.

The RSGB is expanding the Youth Team and are very keen to hear from young people who feel they could help us.

  • You don’t need to be licensed, all you need is a keen interest in radio.

  • You need to be able to work with anyone and respect everyone.

  • You should be computer literate and check your emails regularly.

Lots of the work will be planning events, attending shows and writing articles—after all, you’re the youth face of the RSGB!

If this sounds like you then please send an email to youth.champion@rsgb.org.uk telling me a little about yourself and your interest in amateur radio.
