Members of the Government Communication Amateur Radio Club (GCARC) will be operating two special event stations in celebration of the centenary of Government Communication Headquarters (GCHQ).
GCHQ is the United Kingdom’s Signals Intelligence Agency and is the organisation that was formerly based at Bletchley Park during WWII.
Operation will be from approximately 0800 to 1600 UTC on June 21st, with July 5th being held as a backup date in case of inclement weather or other issues. GB100GCHQ will operate from the organisations’ headquarters in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire and GB100GCB will operate from the organisations’ station in Bude, Cornwall. Operation will be primarily on HF using a mixture of voice, CW and data modes. Some VHF/UHF data mode operation may also be possible. Keep an eye on the DX Cluster for information about which band and mode the stations are operating on. Also listen out for the club callsigns G3SSO and G8CQA which may be active during the same period.
All contacts will be confirmed via eQSL and LoTW. Special commemorative QSL cards will also be available, please send a stamped self-addressed envelope along with details of the contact to:
