Icom Unveils the IC-7300MK2 — The Evolution of a HF Legend!

ICom have announced the debut of the IC-7300MK2 HF/50/70 MHz Transceiver. The successor to the wildly successful and world-renowned IC-7300, the IC-7300MK2 builds on a legacy of excellence with enhanced performance and great new features, setting a new standard for HF operation.

The original IC-7300 revolutionised the market with its RF direct-sampling system making sophisticated SDR technology accessible to a wider audience. The IC-7300MK2 takes that innovation to the next level offering improved features that will delight both new and experienced operators.

Enhanced Performance for a Better Signal

At the core of the IC-7300MK2's improvements are significant upgrades to its receiver and transmitter. The Reciprocal Mixing Dynamic Range (RMDR) has now improved to approximately 105 dB (at 2 kHz separation) while the transmit Phase Noise characteristics are improved by about 12 dB (at 1 kHz frequency separation). These enhancements mean a cleaner quieter signal on both receive and transmit allowing you to hear weak signals more clearly and ensure your transmitted signal is free of unwanted noise.

The new model also features lower heat generation and power consumption. Through careful component selection and DC power optimisation the IC-7300MK2 can maintain stable operation for longer periods, perfect for contest operation or extended use. Its power consumption during RX standby is reduced to just 0.7 A, down from 0.9 A in the previous model.

New Features for an Evolved Experience

The IC-7300MK2 introduces several major new features designed to enhance usability and flexibility:

  • HDMI™ Port for an External Display: A first for Icom's HF/50 MHz radios the inclusion of an HDMI port allows you to connect a large external monitor. This lets you view critical operating information including the spectrum scope, waterfall display and settings menus on a bigger screen for superior visibility and a more immersive experience.

  • RX Antenna Connectors: The addition of dedicated RX antenna connectors provides new opportunities for optimising reception. Operators can connect separate receive antennas to avoid interference and noise (QRN) or integrate external bandpass filters and preamps to fine-tune their setup.

  • Built-in CW Decoder: A valuable addition for CW enthusiasts the new built-in CW decoder simplifies operation by decoding incoming signals directly on the display.

  • Simplified Remote Control for RS-BA1: Icom's RS-BA1 remote control software has been simplified with the addition of an Ethernet port. This allows remote control of the radio without the need of a computer at the base station, making remote operation easier than ever.

  • USB Type-C™ with Dual COM + Audio: A modern and versatile USB Type-C port replaces the previous USB connection offering dual COM ports and audio functionality for streamlined data and audio transfer.

The 70 MHz band is also included in the UK/European version of this transceiver.

The IC-7300MK2 isn't just an upgrade; it's a testament to Icom's commitment to innovation and its understanding of what operators need.
