ICQPodcast to Attend RSGB HF Convention

The RSGB 2019 Convention takes place in Milton Keynes from 11 to 13 October 2019.

The ICQ Amateur / Ham Radio Podcast will be presenting a discussion on Sunday 13th October 2019.

Now that we are well and truly in the 21st century are radio clubs as relevant as they were 60 years ago? Many clubs are suffering from declining membership numbers, others are close to closing. Successful clubs seem to have that winning formula. In modern times groups of like-minded amateurs have bonded together to enjoy our hobby successfully without the club infrastructure. Is it time to rewrite the rule book?

We invite the audience to interact with the panel to discuss this problem. Discussion and debate to understand our options in a new era to keep our hobby alive.

GQRP Convention 2019

The 2019 Convention takes place next weekend starting on the evening of Saturday 31st August 2019 with a Buildathon and social gathering. It all takes place at the Harper Adams University campus north of Telford.

This year's buildathon project is unashamedly retro in that it is a tribute to our founder, George Dobbs, G3RJV SK. We are building his 'Sunday Best' VFO and then having a drift challenge shoot out. There are a few places not spoken for so if you would like to join in, drop me an email.

We have also asked members to bring their own G3RJV projects to show and tell and help us all celebrate George's legacy.

We have some great speakers lined up for the Sunday, including Colin, G3VTT, speaking about QRP at sea and Peter, VK3YE, giving us his view from down under.

There will also be traders and a bring and buy on the Sunday. Graham, G3MFJ, will be there with the Club Sales.
