New Zealand Amateur Radio 60m Trial Extended

New Zealand's national amateur radio society NZART reports that RSM have agreed to extend the one year 60m trial for a further six months to give more time for information gathering.

If you already hold a sub-license from NZART you do not need to do
anything. The trial will now finish on 24th July 2019.

Austrian Ham Radio Regulatory Changes

The ÖVSV reports Manfred Mauler OE7AAI has summarized the amendments to the new Austrian Telecommunications Act in relation to Amateur Radio

The future changes listed are:

  • Use of club radio stations liberalized at international events

  • Licenses are limited to 10 years (also for foreign CEPT holders)

  • Callsign approved for 10 years (and reserved for 5 years)

  • Existing licenses phased out from 31st December 2022

  • License to cost 200 Euros

  • Emergency and disaster radio communications at the request of authorities

  • Deadline for registration of emergency and disaster radio exercises changed

  • Penalty of 1,000 Euros for late registration of exercises

  • Cancellation of import authorization v. Radio systems for personal use

  • Opt-In required for personal data to appear in published callsign list

Two New Turkish Band Access for Christmas

Turkey’s telecom regulator, BTK, in a government gazette notice of 29th November 2018, released two new Amateur Radio allocations.

The new WRC-15 60m Secondary allocation of 5351.5 – 5366.5 kHz with a power limit of 15W EIRP. All modes are allowed.

A 6m allocation of 50 – 52 MHz, all modes allowed, with a power limit of 75W.
