Route 66 On the Air Special Event Set Announced

The Citrus Belt Amateur Radio Club of San Bernardino, California (W6JBT), will host the 20th annual Route 66 On the Air Special Event, 7-15th September 2019.

The yearly event commemorates the 1926 construction of the famous Route 66, the country’s first major improved highway linking the US heartland with the west coast. Twenty stations will be on the air along the route, two of them as rover stations on the highway between Santa Monica, California, and Chicago, Illinois. All 20 stations will employ 1 × 1 call signs.

Join W1AW 150th Birthday Celebration

The Hiram Percy Maxim Birthday Celebration runs from 31 August to 8 September 2019.

The event commemorates the 150th anniversary of the birth of ARRL co-founder—and first President—Hiram Percy Maxim, W1AW.

The objective is to work as many participating stations as possible.

W1AW and all ARRL members will append /150 to their call signs during this event. Stations will exchange a signal report and their ARRL/RAC section. A total of 84 multipliers are available.

DX stations will send a signal report and the letters DX instead of their section.

All bands except 60, 30, 17, and 12m can be used. Contacts may be made on CW, phone and digital modes.

Incentives are available for using different modes, operating portable, and using social media, among others.

Logs will be scored, and downloadable certificates will be available.
