Swedish Regulator Desires Delegation Change

Since 2012 the Swedish regulator, PTS, has delegated conducting tests, issuing amateur radio licences and assigning call signs to the National Amateur Radio Society the SSA

The regulator is now indicating it does not wish to delegate in the future but the SSA has declared its interest to continue to provide the delegated tasks.

Swedish 5 MHz Changes

Since the end of October 2016 , the Swedish Post and Telecom (PTS) Agency has been issuing 6-month temporary experimental amateur / ham radio licences for 5351.5 - 5366.6 kHz, with power limits of 15W EIRP

These experimental licences replace the previous 3 kHz segments of 5310, 5320, 5380 and 5390 kHz.

Amateurs wishing to obtain a licence must pay a fee of 300SEK (appx €30) per license per period.

Amateurs in Sweden are still awaiting notification of when the Swedish Post and Telecom Agency will implement WRC-15 recommendation into the Swedish National Band Plan.

Allocation of the WRC-15 recommendations may not be implemented until the proposed new band plan to be released January 2018.

Vintage Radio Weekend

The Vintage Radio Group will be 'sponsoring' a Vintage Radio Weekend on the air on 17-18 December 2016.

This event is open to everyone with vintage gear to participate on-air, on any band, any mode, anytime over the weekend.

The group will be active using the club callsign MX0VRG, active on the 40m band (subject to conditions) during the weekend using a Yaesu FT-101ZD or Kenwood TS-830S and possibly an Icom IC-735.

'Vintage' is very loosely defined, but mainly applies to equipment made before 1985 or thereabouts, way back to the 1920's or beyond!. Further Vintage Radio Weekends are also planned for 2017, at bi-monthly intervals.
