Turkish Special Event

The following 10 special event callsigns to be active for a month between 20th October 2017 and 20th November 2017 -  TC10A, TC10E, TC10M, TC10U, TC10S, TC10T, TC10F, TC10K, TC10L and TC10R.

Activity is to commemorate the 79th anniversary of the death of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Turkish Republic.

Activity will be on all HF bands using CW, SSB and the Digital modes. QSL via LoTW, direct or eQSL.

Three diplomas will be available (Bronze, Silver, Gold).

Free ATV Magazine

In the current issue of the CQ-DATV magazine has been improved with a new news service and world roundup.

Old favorites including Micro Corner are still published, with Trevor who has been driving a small LCD display from the NODEMCU micro and finding out it’s not quite as straightforward as he expected.

Richard VK4XRL has written another edition of "digital world" and this time he has been looking at FM TV and the microwave bands.

Ken W6HCC column looks at a new SDR board called the ADALM-PLUTO from Analog Devices.

Trevor has also expanded on the Openshot video editing software that he introduced in the last issue and has produced an interesting short video that shows how the Star Trek Transporter works

Amateur Radio Club Give Clue to Hobby

Popular UK Amateur Radio Club, Essex Ham recently arranged to partner with local radio station BBC Essex to promote the Amateur/Ham Radio hobby.

The stations Sunday morning treasure hunt style quiz, BBC Essex Quest was started by the group promoting special event station GB4EAA at the Earls Colne Airfield. The group's clue was transmitted byDorothy M0LMR using amateur radio equipment.

Pete Sipple M0PSX took the opportunity to promote amateur/ham radio to the listenership in an interview with the station.
