Peter the First Island DXpedition Seeks Operators
/With the 3YØK Bouvet Island DXpedition now behind them, the same organisers have set their sights even further south — and are looking for operators to join them.
The team plans to activate Peter the First Island as 3YØL in February 2027. The remote, glacier-covered Norwegian dependency sits in the Bellingshausen Sea off the coast of Antarctica, and currently ranks as the seventh-most wanted DX entity in the world.
The team says it is most interested in hearing from hams who:
work well as part of a multi-operator team
have experience operating in cold climates
are able to contribute financially toward the venture
February 2027 may sound distant, but the search is being conducted now so that planning and preparation can be thorough. The shipping container has already been despatched with supplies for the expedition.
