Boy Scout gains Amateur Radio patch

Robert Miles KD2BWZ is one of the youngest scouts to receive the Boy Scouts of America's Amateur Radio Operating Patch.

The patch is a recent addition for the Boy Scouts and recognizes the scout's availability as an amateur radio operator for communications services for events and activities as well as in emergencies.

All registered youth and adult members who also hold a valid FCC-issued amateur radio license of any class are eligible to earn and wear the patch.

Both Robert KD2BWZ and his father Aaron Miles KD2BWY received their awards at an event attended by John Mueller K2BT, Western New York section manager for the American Radio Relay League.
