Ham Radio at 'Electricity University'
/The Belgian national amateur radio society the UBA took part in an 'Electricity University' for 10-12 year olds held in Ghent, Flanders on Sunday 24 February 2012
The workshop organized by the UBA aimed to teach young people aged between 10 and 12 how to solder and construct a signal finder originally developed by Richard PE0RIG.
In total 19 signal finders were constructed 14 of which worked. After the event UBA volunteers analyzed the 5 failed signal finders and supplied the constructors Parent/Guardian with an explanation.
The UBA report the workshop only lasted an hour which is not much time to teach young people who had never seen a soldering iron before.
The tutors are to be congratulated on achieving such a high percentage of successfully completed signal finders.
