Marijuana Lamps Impact Radio

One of the side effects of recent changes in States Regulations in regards to growing marijuana is noise pollution effecting Amateur / Ham Radio and commercial medium wave bands.

Lamps, particularly imported from China, are causing a large amount of electrical interference due to the electrical ballasts that regulate the heat lamps.

With the potential of increased numbers of amateur growers legally growing, the ARRL is monitoring the issue as non-FCC complainant lamps could affect emergency response services.
