96% Pass Rate in Cuban Amateur Radio Exam
/Joel Carrazana Valdés CO6JC of the Federación de Radioaficionados de Cuba (FRC) has posted the results of the amateur radio exams in Cuba
323 candidates sat one of the three categories of amateur radio exams in the first half of 2018 and 310 obtained a license. This is an increase in candidates over last year. The overall pass rate was an impressive 95.97%.
There are three license categories in Cuba:
- CO 1st Category - All bands with up to 2,000 watts output
- CM 2nd Category - HF/VHF/UHF with up to 100 watts output
- CL 3rd Category - part of 1.8/3.5/5/7/144 MHz bands with 10 watts output
The number of exam passes for the three license categories were 36 category 1, 53 category 2, 221 category 3.
The pass rates for the three levels of exams were 92.3% category 1, 94.6% category 2, 96.9% category 3
“The information processed from the different Affiliates, shows that these results could be even better, since it presented difficulties in several localities obtaining criminal records, on the part of some candidates, reason that prevented their presentation on this occasion. In all cases, the examination was carried out with the formalities required by this act and characterized by the solemnity and respect that has always been present.
The FRC hereby recognizes the serious and sustained work of the Radio Clubs and the Branches in the preparation of the candidates in the respective Academies and through the Radio Wheels that in many localities played an important role, with the aim of contributing to the preparation of those who took the exam.”
