Successful Club Expands Training Team

Chippenham Amateur Radio club held its 52nd Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 26th March.

At the meeting in the club’s new headquarters at Kington Langley Village Hall it was agreed that the Club which has a strong and dedicated training team will continue to offer full training and support for any potential new members wishing to explore the world of Amateur Radio.

There are three nationally recognised RSGB (Radio Society of Great Britain) courses available to people of all learning abilities, these range from Intermediate through to Foundation and Advanced. Once licensed it will allow the operator with their own dedicated International approved callsign to contact people all over the world by radio which often leads to strong and long-lasting friendships.

The syllabus of the courses is changing this year and many clubs across the UK have decided to put training on hold in order to familiarise themselves with any changes that may peruse.

However, Chippenham Amateur Radio Club are currently running a fully subscribed Foundation Level course for people interested in getting started in Amateur Radio, but are pleased to confirm it will be running another Foundation level two day course over the weekend of 20th and 21st July 2019.

The course which includes ten hours of learning and basic practical assessments will be followed by a short multiple choice exam at the training and exam centre in Kington Langley.

Chippenham Amateur Radio Club has one of the largest memberships of any radio club with over 70 members of all ages from teenagers through to pensioners, all with a common interest in radio. The club is recognised for training and development of new and existing members and currently holds a 100% pass rate for members taking the nationally recognised examinations.
