Japanese Ham Radio Stations Database

JJ1WTL's English language License Data Search enables you to look up the license details of over 421,000 Amateur Radio stations in Japan

Japan has four classes of amateur radio license. The entry-level is Class 4 which permits operation with 10 watts output on LW/MW and HF bands, 20 watts on VHF/UHF bands and lower power levels in the Microwave and Millimetric bands.

Class 4 is set just below the level of UK Foundation requiring about 10 hours of tuition before the 24 questions multiple-choice exam which has a typical pass rate of 98%. Unlike the UK there are no Practical Assessments.
