Iceland Radio Hams use of 1850-1900 kHz Renewed for 2022

Iceland's IRA reports the telecommunications agency Fjarskiptastofa has approved the request to renew the authorisation for amateur radio use of 1850-1900 kHz in 2022

ÍRA has received a positive response from Fjarskiptastofa (FS) today, December 7, to the request for renewal of the authorization to use the frequency range 1850-1900 kHz for participation in international competitions in the calendar year 2022. The authorization covers the following competitions:

  • CQ WW 160 meter race at CW - 28.-30. January 2022.

  • ARRL International DX competition at CW - 19.-20. February 2022.

  • CQ WW 160 meter competition at SSB - 25.-27. February 2022.

  • ARRL International DX competition at SSB - 5.-6. March 2022.

  • CQ WW WPX competition at SSB - 26.-27. March - 2022.

  • CQ WW WPX competition at CW - 28.-29. May 2022.

  • CQ WW DX competition at CW 26.-27. November 2022.

  • ARRL 160 meter DX competition 2.-4. December 2022

The authorization is granted with the full consent of the Maritime Watch Center, which has priority for the use of frequencies during this frequency range. The same requirements apply to this use as apply to the frequency range 1810-1850 kHz in a regulation, but the increased conditions of Fjarskiptastofa are as follows:

  • • Authorization is only granted during the specified international competitions.

  • G-licensees are authorized to use full power, up to 1kW. N-licensees enjoy the same frequency rights, but the power limit is based on a maximum of 10W.

Licensees shall apply separately for authorization to the PTA at hrh@fjarskiptastofa.is It is sufficient to send one application which is thus valid for all 10 competitions in the year 2022.
