On This Net, Etiquette Is No Trivial Matter

Good manners on the air never go out of style, and now there's a net dedicated to making sure they don't. Time to brush up on your on-air etiquette — and your general manners — because a new net has launched with exactly that in mind.

The Sunflower GAPT Net does a bit of both things its name promises. Launched by the Sunflower Linked System, the net lives up to its title: Good Amateur Practice and Trivia — GAPT for short. Net control duties fall to Daryl Stout, NK5LA.

What to Expect

Each week, participants dig into a range of topics, with a strong focus on the proper, courteous way for hams to conduct themselves on the air. The conversation is pitched to inform as much as it entertains, which means there's always a bit of amateur radio trivia worked in along the way, purely for fun.

Where to Find It

The Sunflower Network is based in the "Sunflower State" of Kansas, but thanks to its linked system, it's accessible to hams well beyond state lines — available on DMR, the TGIF Network, P25, M17, AllStar, D-Star, Echolink, Fusion, and Hams Over IP.

If your on-air manners could use the occasional refresher — or you just enjoy a good bit of radio trivia — this one's worth tuning into.
