ARRL Survey of Members and Licensees Now Underway — Here's What to Expect
/If you've got an ARRL survey sitting in your inbox or mailbox right now, it's genuine — and your response actually matters more than you might think.
ARRL has commissioned an independent research firm, Readex Research, headquartered in Stillwater, Minnesota, to conduct a survey of amateur radio operators. Readex has worked with ARRL before on similar projects, including past QST readership studies and large-scale national surveys, so this isn't a new relationship.
Who's Being Surveyed
The survey is going out by both mail and email, reaching a representative sample drawn from US and international ARRL members, as well as non-member FCC licensees. Not every member will be selected to take part, but for those who are, participation is genuinely important to the project's success — a representative response rate is what makes the results meaningful.
On Privacy
ARRL has been clear that responses will be kept confidential, used only in aggregate with other responses, and that no individual data — including contact information — will be shared with anyone.
If you've got questions about the survey itself, or whether a request you've received is legitimate, ARRL has encouraged members to reach out directly.
If you're selected, it's worth taking the few minutes to respond — surveys like this are one of the clearer ways ARRL gets a genuine read on where the membership stands.
