Midland Amateur Radio Club Inc. Changes name

The Midland Amateur Radio Club in Bendigo, Victoria (Australia), is excited to announce a name change! The club will now be known as Bendigo Amateur Radio & Electronics Club Inc.

Members felt that the new name would better reflect the location of the club, and in the ever changing landscape of technologies, keep electronics relevant to Amateur Radio.

Meetings are held on the third Friday of each month, at the 1st Bendigo Scout Hall, Vine St, Bendigo, at 7.30 pm. Visitors are most welcome.

70-year-old Radio Ham's epic voyage

70-year-old radio amateur, Jeanne Socrates KC2IOV, from Ealing, West London has succeeded in sailing single-handed around the world.

Jeanne KC2IOV, sold her house to fund the challenge setting off from Victoria, Canada on 22 October 2012 in her third attempt to circumnavigate the globe. When she docked on Monday 8 July 2013, becoming the oldest person to complete the solo voyage.

Amateur Radio Club to hold emergency exercise

The NPARC Amateur Radio Club of the Watchung Hills Area will set up a group of operating amateur radio stations on the grounds of Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights to participate in the Annual Emergency Preparedness test known as “Field Day” on Sunday 23 June 2013, at 2 p.m.

The event is designed to test operators' skills in setting up and operating radio communication equipment in situations where electrical power is limited or unavailable. The idea is to simulate the conditions that can occur during a hurricane, tornado or other emergency, including man-made disasters.

The stations will be on the air continuously for 24 hours from 22 June 2013 at noon until 23 June 2013 at 2 p.m. and will contact other Amateur Radio stations participating in this test, located in all parts of North and South America.
