Two New UK Repeaters

The Essex DMR digital voice repeater GB7SE is now licensed and it is expected on-air in by May 2015.

The 70cm repeater, located at Thurrock, will be part of the DMR South East regional talk group 8.

Output frequency is 439.4750 MHz with the input on 430.4750 MHz

A new D-Star repeater, GB7KH has become active in Essex. 

It joins the other Essex D-Star repeaters GB7ZP in Danbury and GB7SS in Hockley.

The repeater is located at the Keveldon Hatch Secret Nuclear Bunker about 30 km N.E of central London and provides coverage of West and Central Essex.

It is based around the Icom ID-RP4000V UHF repeater with ID-RP2C controller and Procom duplexer tuned for the output frequency of 439.6125 MHz and 430.6125 MHz input.

6m Global Repeater List

The UK Six Metre Group (UKSMG) are currently expanding their current 6 metre repeater list.

The aim is to create a global list of all 6 metre repeaters. The group are looking for volunteers in each country to collate a list for their country.

WG2XPN 70 MHz Beacon update

Brian WA1ZMS, licensee of the 3 kW ERP 70.005 MHz WG2XPN beacon located in Virginia USA, reports the license has been renewed until 1st May 2017

The Experimental License for WG2XPN with one-way only beacon operations on 70.005 MHz with 3 kW ERPd from here in the US (QTH: FM07fm) has been renewed until May 1, 2017.

As such, it gives the only 4m North American beacon a chance to be heard via TA to Europe for another 2 years.

Support for Beacon WA1ZMS continues to be provided by the FCC & the Society of Broadcast Engineers. The beacon uses a portion of spectrum is still reserved for TV service only and no US 4m ham band appears possible in the future.
