300 Registered for ILLW

With a few weeks to go until the 2016 International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend, more than 300 stations have registered from 35 countries.

The 300th station was K2QS, QSY Society from Esopus Meadows Lighthouse, Hudson River, New York.

The event takes place over the weekend of 20-21 August 2016. Registrations are still open for stations to join.

Changes at BBC Monitoring

The BBC monitoring service, established in 1939 to receive overseas broadcasts during World War 2, is planned to move out of its Caversham Park headquarters, located in Berkshire.

BBC Director of Monitoring, Sara Beck, announcing the plans, also detailed an expected that 98 posts will be lost and it is planned to move the team out of Caversham Park and into a central London location.

SA Radio Amateurs Launch New Website

The Kemptonpark Amateur Radio Technical Society (KARTS), ZS6KTS, has launched its new website.

The Society are hopeful that fellow Amateur / Ham Radio Operators post any technical or amateur related topic on our new Forum or post details within the swop-shop.

KARTS will soon launch a series of homebrew kits for the amateur or electronic DIY enthusiast.
