St Patrick's Day 2017 Award

The worldwide St Patrick's Day celebrations take place on 17th March, giving Amateur / Ham Radio operators an opportunity to turn the airwaves “green”.

A St Patrick’s Day Award website has been set-up, allowing for registration of stations participating in the event.

Stations listed include locations throughout the island of Ireland, Scotland, England, USA and Nepal.

Radio Hams Celebrate 2MT

Amateur Radio Operators in Essex, UK have successfully celebrated of the 95th anniversary of pioneer broadcast station 2MT Writtle 

To commemorate this anniversary and to celebrate the pioneering young team of engineers, the Chelmsford Amateur Radio Society transmitted from the same building where the original broadcasts commenced.

One of their members, Jim Salmon [2E0RMI], also operated a three-day internet radio service, Radio Emma Toc, featuring radio-related documentaries, vintage comedies and live programmes from various locations.

New SOTABeam Filer

SOTABEAMS has introduced a low pass filter kit to complement their popular WSPRlite antenna analysis system. The kit provides selectable 7 element filters for 160m, 80m and 40m on a single PCB. SMA connectors are used to make it easy to interface to the WSPRlite.

The kit is rated at 20 Watts and thus may be useful for other applications where a good quality low-pass filter is needed.
