ITU Characteristics of Amateur Services

IARU Secretary David Sumner K1ZZ has announced the availability of ITU-R M.1732-2 describing the characteristics of Amateur and Amateur-Satellite Services

Administrative Circular CACE/800 from ITU-R Director Rancy dated 31st January 2017 announced the approval of Recommendation ITU-R M.1732-2, the new revision of “Characteristics of systems operating in the amateur and amateur-satellite  services for use in sharing studies.” Congratulations to everyone who contributed to the work in Working Party 5A.

Family Works ARRL HQ Station W1AW

After 8-year-old Grace Lea KM4TXT/AG replied to a CQ call from ARRL HQ station W1AW the rest of her comprising of Michele N8ZQZ, James WX4TV, Zechariah WX4TVJ, Faith Hannah AE4FH, Hope KM4IPF and Grace KM4TXT family joined in 

Grace KM4TXT/AG, who has recently passed her General exam, heard W1AW calling "CQ" on 20 meters and gave them a shout. The ARRL's Sean Kutzko KX9X jumped on the air to say "hi" and W1AW became the fifth station in the world to Work All Lea on HF!

Ham Radio Dummies Books for Schools and Libraries

With the explosive growth in amateur or ham radio, the Cedar Creek Amateur Radio Club decided to spread the word about of the Amateur / Ham Radio Hobby, with more licensed hams than any other time in history.

It’s hoped by making available the book “Ham Radio for Dummies”, which explains topics of the amateur/ham radio hobby in simple terms.

The Cedar Creek Amateur Radio Club use a grant from LDG Electronics of St. Leonard, MD to send a copy of the book to almost every school and public library in the tri-county area.
