RSGB 2027 Construction Competition Is Open

If you've got a half-finished homebrew project gathering dust on the bench, this is your sign to get back to it.

The RSGB 2027 Construction Competition is officially open for entries, giving RSGB members anywhere in the world the chance to get stuck into designing and building something of their own.

An Excuse Worth Taking

Whether you're after a creative outlet, a fresh challenge for your spare time, or simply the motivation to finally finish that project you started months ago, the competition is exactly the push a lot of builders need. And if your interest leans more toward inspiring others than chasing a prize, the two newer categories — Reimagination and Outreach — are a great way to use your build to introduce other people to amateur radio.

Seven Categories, Something for Everyone

There are seven judging categories in total, covering everyone from complete newcomers to seasoned serial constructors, and from traditional hardware builds through to software projects for those wanting to push in a different direction. However you like to build, there's a category that fits.

Cash prizes will be awarded to both winners and runners-up across the categories, and entry is open until 1st March 2027 — plenty of time to turn an idea into something finished.

Full details of the competition, along with inspiration from previous years' entrants, can be found at rsgb.org/construction-competition.
