Belgium gets WRC15 5 MHz allocation and 4m extension

The Belgian telecoms regulator, IBPT, has issued a decision permitting access to the new WRC!5 60m allocation for all Belgian Class A amateurs (also known as the HAREC licence).

The allocation is from 5351.5 to 5366.5 kHz on a Secondary basis with a maximum power of 15W e.i.r.p. All modes are permitted.

Belgian amateurs now have wider access to 4m -  the band 70.1125 – 70.4125 MHz has now been made available with a maximum power from the transmitter output of 50W. Secondary status with all modes available. Again the allocation is for all Belgian Class A amateurs (also known as the HAREC licence).

434 MHz Balloon Flies over North Africa

A High Altitude Balloon launched by University of Bristol Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (UBSEDS) has flown across Algeria and Tunisia

 

The balloon UBSEDS14 transmits Contestia 16/1000 on 434.600 MHz USB and APRS. It was launched from Bristol at about 3pm on Monday 8th March 2016 and flew over France and Spain at an altitude of around 11,000m. UBSEDS14 then crossed Algeria and Tunisia and on Tuesday evening was on its way to Greece.

G0KSC Wins RSGB Award Again

Justin Johnson, G0KSC has won another award from the RSGB, this year for his contributions to the Amateur / Ham Radio hobby, VHF/UHF Antenna technology and the introduction of the super-low noise LFA Yagi.

InnovAntennas products are designed and built at the Waters & Stanton facility in Hockley Essex, England in addition to Force 12 / InnovAntennas America factory in Grand Junction Colorado USA.

After the award at the RSGB AGM in Glasgow on 23rd April, Justin's next appearance will be at the ARRL Antenna Forum in Dayton in May this year.
